infant with respiratorThe Heartland Regional Genetics and Newborn Screening Collaborative is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB), Children With Special Health Needs Program, Genetic Services Branch. (Grant Number: U22MC03962)

This is a cooperative agreement between HRSA and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). Heartland began with a three year award in 2004. In winter of 2006 a 5 year competitive renewal was issued, and awarded to OUHSC. Our fiscal year runs June 1-May 31. June 1, 2008 begins our second year of funding in the 5 year cycle. This funding establishes a set of reporting requirements, along with performance metrics, for the region.

The Guidance from HRSA details the expectations for the cooperative agreement. The Narrative details what we proposed for our cooperative agreement in the coming fiscal year. This document includes a description of the purpose of our project, the need, our goals, and how we will evaluate what we do.
