The Community Engagement Work Group of the Heartland Regional Genetics Network (HRGN) brings together representatives from and providers serving the “genetically underserved” populations for which Heartland is striving to improve awareness of, access to, and quality of genetics services. These communities include Spanish-speaking/Hispanic/LatinX, Marshallese/Pacific Islander, American Indian/Native American, and Black/African-American. The charge for the Community Engagement work group will be to:

  • Review HRGN’s work plans with the communities;
  • Provide input in developing and reviewing all work products for the communities;
  • Assist in dissemination of work products; and
  • Advise HRGN leadership and Steering Committee.

By working together, we will improve accessibility and quality of genetics services in the Heartland region for all.
