Cancer in Children

By ryandahlhauser ‐ September 7, 2023

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in children ages 1 to 14. The American Cancer Society provides key information related to childhood cancer within this resource, especially related to types of cancer and how these are unique compared to adults diagnoses. Childhood cancer may have a higher link to a genetic component that one is born with compared to adults. Specialty treatment centers throughout the country are available to alleviate this condition in children. 85% of children with cancer now live for 5 years or more, thanks to treatment advances, but on-going research and improvements in medicine continue to try and close this gap.
