Expanded carrier screening (ECS) helps healthy individuals screen for autosomal recessive and x-linked conditions that could impact the early life of a future child, thus affecting reproductive management. This screening is considered more equitable than ethnicity-based screening, which is not always comprehensive and can be hindered by self reporting or subjectivity.
